A Century of Vidyā and Vinaya
The year 2027 marks one hundred years since the birth of Padma Śrī Mahāmahōpādhyāya Dr. R. Sathyanarayana (9 May 1927 - 16 January 2020), one of India's most distinguished musicologists, danceologists and Indologists. Born in Ramanagara and rooted in the cultural soil of Mysuru, he devoted over seven decades to the study, teaching, and preservation of Karnataka music, Sanskrit scholarship and the classical performing arts.
Śatamāna RāSa is a series of commemorative events organised by Brahmavidya (R.) to celebrate this extraordinary life, to honour his scholarly contributions spanning over 20,000 published pages, and to inspire the continuity of the guru-śiṣya paramparā he so lovingly nurtured.
